biography
Elaine Mitchener MBE is a British Afro-Caribbean vocalist, movement artist
and composer working between contemporary/experimental new music, free improvisation and visual art.
She is a Wigmore Hall Associate Artist (2021-26); a DAAD Artist-in-Berlin Fellow (2022);
and was an exhibiting artist in the British Art Show 9 (2021-22).
Born in East London to Jamaican parents, Elaine studied voice at Trinity College of Music,
London and currently studies with Jacqueline Bremar.
Festival appearances she has performed include
Donaueschinger Musiktage, Baremboim-Said Akademie, 56th Venice Biennale,
Klangforum Wien, Darmstadt, London Contemporary Music Festival, Royal Opera House, November Music,
Savvy Contemporary (Berlin), Sons d'Hiver (Paris), Ensemble Manufaktur für aktuelle Musik (MAM),
Apartment House and the Institute of Contemporary Arts (London).
While developing her own projects, Elaine continues to work as a collaborative and interpretive singer and her repertoire includes:
